1st Vienna Minerva
International Piano
Competition
Robert Schumann (1810-1856): “Many new, significant talents appeared, a new force in music seemed to announce itself, to which many of the emerging artists of recent times bear witness, … …, someone would appear who like Minerva, should arise fully armored from the forehead of Zeus. And he has come, a young blood, over whose cradle graces and heroes kept watch…. … Ye who belong together, close your ranks ever more tightly, that the Truth of Art may shine more clearly, diffusing joy and blessings over all things.” Neue Zeitschrift für Musik Bd. 39 Nr. 18, 28. Oktober 1853, S. 185-186
Just as Schumann praised and promoted Brahms, the rising stars of every era are worthy of being discovered. The purpose of the Vienna Minerva Music Festival is to give these rising stars a chance and a stage. The Music Festival events offer them an opportunity to further improve their excellent music literacy and to explore the world of music with a broader vision and mind.
